RCB Wins IPL 2021: ఈ ఏడాది ఐపీఎల్ 14 సీజన్‌ను కోహ్లీ సారథ్యంలోని ఆర్‌సీబీ విజేతగా నిలిచింది. హాట్ హాట్‌గా సాగిన ఫైనల్ మ్యాచ్‌లో ఢిల్లీ జట్టుని చిత్తూగా ఓడించి టైటిల్ ఎగురేసుకుపోయింది.

కరోనా వ్యాప్తి కారణంగా ఐపిఎల్ 2021 ను సస్పెండ్ చేశారు. ఈ కారణంగా టోర్నమెంట్‌లో కేవలం 29 మ్యాచ్‌లు మాత్రమే నిర్వహించగలిగారు. ఇప్పుడు చాలా మంది అభిమానులు మిగిలిన 31 మ్యాచ్‌లను ఎప్పుడు నిర్వహిస్తారో చెప్పాలని కోరుతున్నారు. అయితే ఓ ఐపీఎల్ అభిమాని తనకున్న రెడ్డిట్ మ్యాథమెటిక్స్‌పై ఉన్న పట్టుతో మిగిలిన మ్యాచుల్లో ఎవరు గెలుస్తారో తేల్చి చెప్పాడు. మరింత ముందుకు వెళ్ళే ముందు అసలు ఈ రెడ్డిట్ అంటే ఏంటో ఓ సారి చూద్దాం.. రెడ్డిట్ ఒక సోషల్ మీడియా యాప్. ఇక్కడ ఆదిష్ జైన్ అనే ఈ అభిమాని తన ఫార్ములా వినియోగించి.. మ్యాచ్ పూర్తయితే విరాట్ కోహ్లీ నాయకత్వంలోని రాయల్ ఛాలెంజర్స్ బెంగళూరు టైటిల్ గెలుచుకుంటుందని అంటున్నాడు.

విస్డెన్ వార్తల ప్రకారం ప్రతి ఆటగాడి ఐదేళ్ల డేటా.. వారి ఆట తీరు, మ్యాచ్ జరిగే ప్రదేశం, జట్టు కలయిక మొదలైన వాటి ద్వారా ఐపిఎల్ 2021 విజేతను ఆదిష్ గుర్తిస్తాడు. వారు డేటాను విశ్లేషించి, ఆపై ఫలితాన్ని సాధించాడు. వారి ఫలితాల ప్రకారం ఆర్‌సిబి కాకుండా ఢిల్లీ క్యాపిటల్స్, చెన్నై సూపర్ కింగ్స్ , పంజాబ్ కింగ్స్ జట్లు ప్లేఆఫ్‌కు వెళ్తాయి. ఆర్‌సిబి, ఢిల్లీ క్యాపిటల్స్‌కు గెలిచే ఫైనల్స్ ఆడతాయి. ఫైనల్లో విరాట్ కోహ్లీ తన కెప్టెన్సీలో ఆర్‌సీబీని విజేతగా నిలబెడుతాడు. అయితే, ఆర్‌సీబీ జట్టు ఇంతవరకు ఐపిఎల్ టైటిల్‌ను గెలుచుకోలేకపోయింది.

ఇలా ఫలితం

ఆదిష్ జైన్ తన ఫార్ములా గురించి విస్డెన్‌తో ఇలా అన్నాడు. ‘నేను గత ఐదేళ్లుగా ప్రతి క్రీడాకారుడి డేటాను సేకరించాను. బ్యాట్స్ మాన్, బౌలర్ ఇద్దరూ ఇందులో ఉన్నారు. వారు పరుగులు ఎలా చేస్తారు. బౌలర్లు పరుగులు ఎలా ఇస్తారు. వారు పరుగులు చేసినప్పుడు వారు ఎలా అవుట్ అవుతారు. ఇలాంటి అన్ని వివరాలను అందులో పొందు పర్చినట్లుగా తెలిపాడు. అలాగే, వైడ్-నోబోల్ వంటి వివరాలు కూడా ఫార్ములాలో భాగంగా ఉన్నాయి.

I simulated an entire season of IPL ball-by-ball in Python

EDIT – For anyone coming here from the Wisden article, this is not the simulation that is referred to, this is a more outdated one, if you want to run your own simulation you can download it here – v0.3

I made a Python program to simulate an entire season of the IPL (excluding the playoffs) using past data, predictive analysis, and randomization techniques.

I mainly wanted to share this because there are some really interesting scenarios in the scorecards or some epic batting collapses, also I think RCB fans will like this one.

The Data

I used the ball-by-ball data of the last 5 years of the IPL, created unique IDs for each player and stored each ball they played, what kind of runs they scored (0,1,2,4,6,etc.) against what type of bowling they scored, how they got out, and similarly for the bowlers.

The Model

The model is not a machine-learning model, it uses stats to make the decisions for the batsmen and uses a randomizer to determine the outcome.

The Simulation

I simulated the group stage of the IPL a few shortcomings –

There are no no-balls or byes, just forgot to add them (will add them soon)
The bowler rotation can sometimes be such that a player with three overs and an economy of 9 is picked over a player with one over and an economy of just 3.
I haven’t added super overs so a tied match remained tied.

Overall, the simulator is a lot more accurate than before but still it is far from perfect.

Each match has it’s own ball by ball log and a scorecard. You can view it here.

You may see flaws in the algorithm while viewing the ball logs (and rightly so) like sometimes during the chase, the team suffers batting collapses.

I hope you find this interesting because I did!

PS – I didn’t go too much into how I made the model or how I extracted the data since it’s pretty boring.

కేకేఆర్ దిగువన ఆర్‌సీబీ అగ్రస్థానంలో ..

ఐదుసార్లు ఛాంపియన్ ముంబై ఇండియన్స్ ప్లేఆఫ్‌లో చోటు దక్కించుకోలేదని ఆదిష్ తెలిపాడు. పాయింట్ల పట్టికలో ఈ జట్టు ఐదవ స్థానంలో నిలిచింది. కోల్‌కతా నైట్ రైడర్స్ జట్టు అట్టడుగున ఉండగా, సన్‌రైజర్స్ హైదరాబాద్ ప్రయాణం ఆరో స్థానంతో ముగిసింది. ఆర్‌సీబీ మొదటి ఢిల్లీ రెండవ స్థానంలో, చెన్నై మూడవ, పంజాబ్ నాలుగో స్థానంలో కొనసాగుతున్నాయి.

మొదటి క్వాలిఫైయర్‌లో ఆర్‌సీబీ, ఢిల్లీని ఓడించింది. అదే సమయంలో పంజాబ్ ఎలిమినేటర్‌లో చెన్నైని ఓడించింది. ఆ తర్వాత రెండో క్వాలిఫైయర్‌లో పంజాబ్ జట్టు ఢిల్లీ చేతిలో ఓడిపోయింది. ఫైనల్లో ఆర్‌సీబీ, ఢిల్లీ ఏకపక్షంగా ఓడించింది.

అయితే, టోర్నమెంట్ ఆగిపోయిన సమయంలో ఢిల్లీ మొదటి స్థానంలో.. చెన్నై రెండవ, బెంగళూరు మూడవ, ముంబై ర్యాంకులో ఉన్నాయి. IPL 2021 మళ్లీ ప్రారంభమైనప్పుడు ఫలితం ఏమిటో చూడాలి.
