Commentary
We are back for the chase! The Kiwis are in a huddle and then they spread out to take their respective field positions. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam are the two openers for Pakistan. Matt Henry to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

Now, with dew likely to play a role under the lights, Pakistan have a chase of 331 ahead of them. Will their batters step up and take them over the line, or does New Zealand have a plan to defend this total? The second innings promises to be an exciting contest - let’s find out how it unfolds!
During the mid-innings break, a special ceremony is taking place on the field. Pakistan cricket legends Inzamam-ul-Haq and Misbah-ul-Haq are being inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame. A proud moment for them and a cherished one for Pakistan cricket fans.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi was the standout bowler, picking up three crucial wickets and consistently troubling the Kiwi batters. However, his figures were spoiled at the death overs especially the last over. Abrar Ahmed also chipped in with two wickets, providing key breakthroughs at important moments. But Naseem Shah having an off day and Haris Rauf's injury did not help them and now they have a huge task on their hands.
As the innings progressed, Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell provided the perfect finishing touch with their fifty-run stand in the final overs. After the dismissal of Bracewell, Mitchell Santner helped Phillips push New Zealand to a respectable total of 330/6 on what appears to be a good batting surface. Glenn too got to his third half-century against Pakistan which he later converted to a brilliant ton being unbeaten on 106 off just 74 balls..
However, Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell came together to stabilize the innings with a solid partnership. Kane Williamson played a composed knock, reaching his half-century, but he couldn’t convert it into a bigger score. Meanwhile, Mitchell carried on the momentum, anchoring the innings beautifully with an impressive 81 off 84 balls.
New Zealand finished really strong here! A fantastic ton from Glenn Phillips and he collected 25 runs in the last over to push the Kiwis to a big total here. Opting to bat first, they suffered an early setback when Will Young departed in the very first over. Things didn’t get much better initially as Rachin Ravindra followed soon after, leaving New Zealand in a tricky position.

Mitchell Santner, the victorious skipper of New Zealand says that Glenn Phillips' knock gave them momentum and they were probably looking at 280 at that moment. Adds that Pakistan bowled really well in the middle stages. Adds that Phillips' innings was the icing on the cake. Further mentions that there was a little bit of assistance from the wicket and the big wicket of Fakhar Zaman was key. Adds that they stuck together in the first ten overs. Mentions that every game that you play for the country, you want to win. And Karachi will be slightly different, conditions wise. Concludes by saying that they are expecting Pakistan bounce back strongly in the next one.
Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Pakistan says that they bowled well until Glenn Phillips took the game away with some incredible batting. Glenn Phillips is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his all-round brilliance. He says that they had a tough little period in the middle and Pakistan bowled well. Adds that they gave themselves a chance and it was very enjoyable in the end. Tells that surprisingly when you give your stumps away to the bowler, they don't hit it. So he gave himself room and hit it. Mentions that he loves his bowling but this hundred was pretty special for him as well. The Kiwis will be thrilled with their bowling display! After a shaky start in the Powerplay, they seized control, with skipper Mitchell Santner leading the charge with three vital scalps. Michael Bracewell backed him up with two, as the spin duo broke the back of Pakistan’s chase in the middle overs. Their fielding was top-notch, with stunning grabs from Glenn Phillips and Bracewell adding to the spectacle. Phillips also chipped in with a wicket, while Matt Henry cleaned up the tail with three of his own, sealing a dominant performance.
Earlier in the game, New Zealand put up a commanding total after opting to bat, led by a scintillating maiden ton from Glenn Phillips, who lit up the innings. Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell anchored with classy half-centuries, while Michael Bracewell’s late fireworks propelled the Kiwis even further. Shaheen Afridi led Pakistan’s attack with three scalps, and Abrar Ahmed chipped in with a couple, but the bowlers lost their grip at the death, conceding far too many runs in the final overs.
Fakhar Zaman was in sublime touch, tearing the Kiwi attack apart and making batting look effortless, but he fought a lone battle. Pakistan’s struggle against spin was evident as they lost their first four wickets to the tweakers, and with pressure mounting, Fakhar fell for a valiant 84. We are back for the chase! The Kiwis are in a huddle and then they spread out to take their respective field positions. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam are the two openers for Pakistan. Matt Henry to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

Now, with dew likely to play a role under the lights, Pakistan have a chase of 331 ahead of them. Will their batters step up and take them over the line, or does New Zealand have a plan to defend this total? The second innings promises to be an exciting contest - let’s find out how it unfolds!
During the mid-innings break, a special ceremony is taking place on the field. Pakistan cricket legends Inzamam-ul-Haq and Misbah-ul-Haq are being inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame. A proud moment for them and a cherished one for Pakistan cricket fans.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi was the standout bowler, picking up three crucial wickets and consistently troubling the Kiwi batters. However, his figures were spoiled at the death overs especially the last over. Abrar Ahmed also chipped in with two wickets, providing key breakthroughs at important moments. But Naseem Shah having an off day and Haris Rauf's injury did not help them and now they have a huge task on their hands.
As the innings progressed, Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell provided the perfect finishing touch with their fifty-run stand in the final overs. After the dismissal of Bracewell, Mitchell Santner helped Phillips push New Zealand to a respectable total of 330/6 on what appears to be a good batting surface. Glenn too got to his third half-century against Pakistan which he later converted to a brilliant ton being unbeaten on 106 off just 74 balls..
However, Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell came together to stabilize the innings with a solid partnership. Kane Williamson played a composed knock, reaching his half-century, but he couldn’t convert it into a bigger score. Meanwhile, Mitchell carried on the momentum, anchoring the innings beautifully with an impressive 81 off 84 balls.
New Zealand finished really strong here! A fantastic ton from Glenn Phillips and he collected 25 runs in the last over to push the Kiwis to a big total here. Opting to bat first, they suffered an early setback when Will Young departed in the very first over. Things didn’t get much better initially as Rachin Ravindra followed soon after, leaving New Zealand in a tricky position.

As part of their final preparations, Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa lock horns in this Tri-series, offering them valuable match practice ahead of the marquee event in this part of the world. The series follows a single round-robin format, with the top two teams meeting in the final in Karachi. The opening game of the series sees the hosts, Pakistan, square off against New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
