Tanzid Hasan
Tanzid Hasan is a left-handed batter representing Bangladesh. Hailing from Bogra, Tanzid’s domestic career began in February 2019 when he made his T20 debut for Uttara Sporting Club in the 2018-19 Dhaka Premier Division. In the following month, he would go on to make his List A debut for the same club. Bangladesh selectors were impressed by the promise shown by the southpaw in the two white-ball formats on the domestic scene and therefore included him in the squad for the 2020 Under-19 World Cup. With 166 runs across 6 innings, Tanzid ended as the second-highest run-getter for Bangladesh and was one of the architects of helping his side clinch the title. He backed up his World Cup performances with a crucial 82-run knock for East Zone in the first innings of the Bangladesh Cricket League final, albeit in a losing cause. In what was his debut inning of his first-class career, Tanzid showed immense composure against an experienced South Zone bowling attack. 2023 proved to be a breakthrough year for the left-hander, as after years of waiting, he received his maiden call-up to the Bangladesh senior team.
In the 2023 Asia Cup, co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan, he made his ODI debut in Bangladesh’s campaign opener against Sri Lanka. In his first outing with the bat, he was dismissed on a duck and finished the competition with just 13 runs under his name from 2 innings. Despite his ordinary showing in the Asia Cup, he was selected for Bangladesh’s next series, which was at home against New Zealand. He could not have the impact that was expected from him, but the selection drama surrounding Tamim Iqbal meant that Tanzid found himself on the flight to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, he struggled at the big event, scoring just one half-century. In 2024, he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe and scored an unbeaten 67. He did enough in the series to be part of the Bangladesh squad for the T20 World Cup. His performances in the Bangladesh T20 League also helped, as he scored 384 runs in 12 games playing for the Chattogram Challengers.
