Shoriful Islam
Mohammad Shoriful Islam, born on 3 June 2001 in Panchagarh, Bangladesh, is a left-arm fast-medium bowler who has represented Bangladesh in all formats of international cricket.
Shoriful began his domestic career with Rajshahi Division, making his first-class debut in the 2017-18 National Cricket League. He later made his List A debut for Prime Bank Cricket Club in the same season’s Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. That season, he stood out as one of the joint-leading wicket-takers for Prime Bank Cricket Club, claiming 17 wickets in 8 matches.
In 2018, Shoriful was picked by the Khulna Titans for the Bangladesh Premier League. Later that year, he featured in Bangladesh's squad for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. In 2019, he played a key role in Bangladesh's Under-19 squad, which won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2020.
His international journey began in 2021 when he was named among the uncapped players in the preliminary ODI squad for the series against the West Indies. He made his T20I debut against New Zealand the same year. Later, he was included in the Test squad for the Sri Lanka series and made his Test debut. He also debuted in ODIs during the Sri Lanka series in 2021. That year, he was part of Bangladesh’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He slowly started to establish himself in the national team while also performing well in the domestic leagues. Shoriful was named in the Bangladesh team for the 2023 ODI World Cup. In the same year, he completed 50 wickets in ODIs, which was the third-fastest in terms of matches (32) for a Bangladeshi bowler back then. The following year, he also represented his nation in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
