Yumnam Joykumar Singh is Manipur's Deputy Chief Minister. In 2017, he was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur in the N Biren Singh Cabinet, as well as minister of finance, excise, taxation, science and technology, economics and statistics and civil aviation. He is a member of the National People's Party (NPP) and represented the Uripok Assembly Constituency of the Imphal West district. In the 2017 Assembly elections, Singh won the seat by defeating his Congress opponent Laisharm Nandakumar by 345 votes. Yumnam Joykumar Singh was Manipur's Director-General of Police before entering politics. He was an IPS officer from the 1976 batch who served as the DGP of Manipur from March 2007 until January 2012.
