Brandon King

One of the most compact and stylish batters in the Caribbean, Brandon King has been one of the most consistent run-scorers for Jamaica and West Indies from age-group cricket. He was part of the West Indies team in the 2014 U-19 World Cup. Though his performances were not up to the mark in that World Cup, his batting potential was never in doubt.

King soon made his first-class debut for Jamaica against Trinidad and Tobago and impressed immediately. His correct technique along with the ability to score at a brisk rate without taking much risk made him one of the brightest young talents in the Caribbean. His real breakthrough performance came in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League in which he scored 496 runs in 12 games at an average of 55.11 along with an impressive strike rate of 148.94.

After a fruitful season, King was in the radar of the national selectors, and he soon made his ODI debut against Afghanistan in November 2019 in Lucknow. The T20I debut followed against the same opposition at the same ground a few days later, but he failed to book a permanent spot in the team. He finally made his maiden T20I fifty against Pakistan in 2021 in Karachi and followed it up with an impressive 43 in the next game on his 27th birthday.

Following his debut against Australia, where he recorded a high score of 75, King established himself as a versatile option across all formats. In December 2025, he travelled to New Zealand for a three-match Test series. He proved his red-ball credentials in the Auckland Test, scoring consecutive fifties.

In the shorter formats, King remained an essential component of the ‘Men in Maroon’ top order. In January 2026, he scored a crucial 50 against Afghanistan in the UAE. His consistency earned him a spot in the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup squad, where he featured as the opening partner for Shai Hope.

King's franchise career has seen him transition from a domestic specialist in the Caribbean to a regular in global T20 leagues. After his breakthrough with the Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2019, he moved to the Jamaica Tallawahs for the 2022 and 2023 CPL seasons, where he was instrumental in their 2022 title-winning run.

In 2024, he joined the newly formed Antigua & Barbuda Falcons for the CPL season as a senior leader. His international stock continued to rise, leading to overseas opportunities in the SA20 league, where he represented Durban's Super Giants in early 2025. Later that year, he returned to his Caribbean roots by signing with the Barbados Royals for the 2025 CPL season.
