Margao is one of the Assembly seats of the South Goa district in Goa and also part of the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency. The Margao Assembly seat has been a traditional seat of the Congress party’s Digambar Kamat. The party has fielded him again in the 2022 Assembly elections. BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Trimbak Ajgaonkar is contesting the elections from Margao this time. The Margao Assembly constituency is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for SCs or STs. The voting on this Assembly seat is scheduled for February 14, 2022.
